On 25 March, Saudi Arabia launched its Patriot air-to-surface missile systems to intercept three missiles from Yemen above Riyadh. They also intercepted four more missiles from Yemen, aimed at Najran, Jizan, and Khamis Mushait, earlier in the day. Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for the missiles. Houthi political leader Saleh al Samad claims they will continue missile attacks if the Gulf Cooperation Council continues anti-Houthi actions in Yemen. This event caused the first casualty in Riyadh from the Saudi-led war on Houthis in Yemen.
