Monday, November 30, 2009 at 6:51AM On 23 November, 57 people were massacred in the Philippines' southern region of Maguindanao. The victims were on their way to the Commission on Elections office when they were stopped by a group of armed men. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) recovered the bodies of politicians, supporters and journalists. Political rivalry is believed to be the reason for the murders.
