RUSSIA: Bomb Derails Train
Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 8:05PM On Friday, 27 November, a bomb blast derailed the Nevsky Express, killing at least 26 people. Approximately three of the 14 carriages left the tracks as the train was nearing speeds of 130 miles per hour. The train is known for its popularity with government officials and business executives. Police also reported a second, smaller explosion on Saturday, near the location of the first; however no one was reported hurt. No group or individual has come forward to claim responsibility for the attack, however the prosecutor-general has opened a criminal case on terrorism charges.
