AUSTRALIA: Government Warns Asylum Seekers Away

On 23 September, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnabull reaffirmed government policy to prevent the resettlement of refugees and asylum seekers in Australia. This is in response to previous statements in which the PM acknowledged his concern for the offshore processing centers used by the government. This continued hardline policy to deal with Australia’s illegal immigration problem may cause refugees and migrants to seek haven in neighboring nations.
